On the 39th International Music Festival “Music Impressions“ held 30 June – 5 July in our sister city, Polish Bydgoszcz our Accordion Quintet “Kragujevac“ won Grand Prix. On this occasion young artists and their mentor, Miljan Beloica were officially received in City Hall by the members of the City Council: Miljan Bjeletić, and Nedeljko Manojlović.
The best ambassadors of a city on the international scene come from the fields of culture and sports. Kragujevac’s artists in the field of music are always messengers of good and pleasant news for our city. Usually they bring news of major achievements, as in this particular case of a quintet which officially represented our city on a prestigious international festival, said Miljan Bjeletić, member of the City Council in charge of Culture and emphasized that this is an opportunity to show how important are the success and achievements of our future artists and more importantly, how important it is to support them on their way to success.
Accordion Quintet “Kragujevac“ was formed specially for this occasion and it consists of members of Orchestra “Accordion“: Mladen Milošević, Stevan Krstić, Nikola Šarkočević, Marko Končarević and Đorđe Vasiljević, all of whom are students of Musical School “Dr Miloje Milojević“ and students of FILUM. Their performance on the festival presented compositions which are performed by full complement orchestra with other instruments.
This year Musical School “Dr Miloje Milojević“, based on their achievements got the opportunity to represent the city and our country on 39th International Music Festival in Bydgoszcz. This is the first event where we were given the opportunity to compete in open category under 25 with other musical ensembles. Jury consisted of five members, PhD degree holders, experts in the field of culture, representatives of the competent Ministry of Poland, which decided to award us with the biggest of recognitions, Grand Prix. The recognition and the cup we brought from Poland is our way to express our gratitude for the support and give something in return to our City” said Miljan Beloica, the mentor of the quintet.
“Music impressions“ is a prestigious international festival that gathers young musicians worldwide who compete in different categories of instruments, music, vocal ensembles and folk dance ensembles. This year’s festival gathered around 600 participants from 22 states: USA, South African Republic, Belarus, Belgium, Estonia, Poland, Serbia and other. Apart from the certificates and cups, the young artists also won prize money, which they plan to invest in the next competition in Belarus where the same quintet will again represent our city and our country.
