Member of the City Council in charge of environment, sustainable development and cooperation with associations
MD Srdjan Matovic
MD Srdjan Matovic was born on November, 9th, 1973 in Niksic (Montenegro). Since 1978 he has been living in Kragujevac.
He finished the Primary School 21. October and the First Grammar School in Kragujevac. He graduated from the Medical Faculty, University of Kragujevac, in 2001 and was granted a degree of Doctor of Medicine. He underwent the international specialization academic studies at the European Center for Peace and Development at the University for Peace established by the United Nations (ECPD) in Belgrade in 2006, and defended specialisation paper The Local Community Role in Providing Conditions for Health Protection Functioning at the Primary Level, and was granted a degree of health management specialist. In 2006, he enrolled specialisation studies in the field of the public health at the Public Health School Center at the Medical Faculty, University of Belgrade.
He completed training period at the Clinical Center Kragujevac and Health Center Kragujevac and passed vocational exam in 2002. He was employed as marketing expert assistant at Kragujevac branch office of Galenika Company (2002-2004). Since 2004 he has been employed as senior marketing assistant at the pharmaceutical company PharmaSwiss Ltd Belgrade.
Since 1991, he has been a member of the Democratic Party (DS). He was a member of the Main (1997 - 2000) and the Executive Committee as well as the Presidency of the Democratic Party. He was both president (1999 - 2000) and a member of the Presidency of the Democratic Youth (1995 - 1999). He was a member of Sumadija District Democratic Party Committee (1997 - 2000), a member of the Municipal (1992 - 1995) and the City Committee (1997 - 2000) of the Democratic Party in Kragujevac, as well as a Vice-President of the City Committee of the Democratic Party in Kragujevac in 2000.
He was a member of the Committee of Directors at the Broadcasting Corporation Kragujevac from 1998 until 2000. He was beneficiary of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation scholarship program for Serbia (2002-2004), and as such he attended a lot of seminars and conferences.
He is one of the founders and a president of the Committee of Directors at the citizens’ association Health Affirmation Center in Kragujevac. Since 2001, this association has been carrying out public health projects and campaigns (“KRAK – Kragujevac against cancer”, “Importance of Breast Self-Examination”, “Who Smokes destroys his health”, “As Fit as Fiddle”, etc.), national public health campaigns in cooperation with the Public Health Institute Kragujevac and Health Center Kragujevac and projects within the Roma Decade in cooperation with the local Roma organizations. By launching the project of public health promotion Kragujevac- a healthy city in 2007, the City of Kragujevac joined the project of the World Health Organization named The Healthy Cities.
He participated in founding of The City of Kragujevac Eco – Net along with the representatives from environmental organizations, also attended a lot of conferences, round tables and educational programs on the environmental protection and sustainable development issues.
He speaks English.
He is married to Natasa, an architect.
