The Norwegian Government support to the textile manufacturers

The Norwegian Ambassador HE Mr Nil Ragnar Kamsvag visited the city of Kragujevac on the occasion of the successful completion of the Growth Project aiming to support textile industry manufacturers on the territory of the city, financed by the Government of the Kingdom of Norway. The Regional Economic Development Agency of Sumadija and Pomoravlje along with the Norwegian organization the Business Innovation Programs supported the program. The manufacturers who have successfully completed the training program have been awarded the certificates at the City Hall.

The program that lasted six months ended in January 2011, while the Regional Economic Development Agency of Sumadija and Pomoravlje helped founding of Sumadija Textile cluster, endorsed also by the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development.

This program was orientated to support mature companies, and people who are already experienced in the business and who needed just one additional impulse in the form of advisory assistance, in order to overcome certain problems and to enter the next phase of growth and development. On the other hand, we have been realizing the microloan program for female beginners in the business, which has been actuating their desire to carry out their entrepreneurial potential, once again in cooperation with the Norwegian Government”, emphasized Mrs Jasminka Lukovic Jaglicic, Director of the Regional Economic Development Agency.

“In the past few years the Kingdom of Norway endorsed many programs aiming to boost entrepreneurship supporting small and medium companies. We are particularly proud of the fact that we managed to introduce entrepreneurship as subject in the Serbian high schools through our programs. We are going to continue with those projects, for we find that small and medium companies are the driving force of the economic development of every country”, the Norwegian Ambassador emphasized.

It’s been said that the textile manufacturing sector has been chosen for a reason as it has got tradition in our city and large number of companies that have proved themselves at the market. Around ten companies from Kragujevac such as: Kolibri, Valentino Kids, Astra Socks, Sana, Sanex, took part in the Growth program.
