Commemoration Academy is held at First Grammar School of Kragujevac in the memory of executed pupils and professors of the school on October 21, 1941 attended by the Bishop Jovan, the Mayor of Kragujevac Radomir Nikolic and his associates, foreign delegations, twin cities representatives, as well as the representatives of the School Administration, students, parents, professors and friends.
“We carry October 21 in our souls all through the year and we strive to make new achievements and face it when it comes with the wish to dispel the ghosts of war and all misfortunes looking into future“ said the Principle of First Grammar School, Slavica Markovic in her welcome address.
Message of October 21 stands for the well of hope within the soul - the hope that people would be strong enough to deny bad notions and acts, added Slavica Markovic.
Students of the First Grammar School oriented to future, revived the reminiscence of the execution, grievance, apprehension that overcame then Kragujevac with the poem they wrote.
Traditionally the best students were awarded for their success by the First Grammar School’s Funds of Teachers and Students Dusica Dragojlovic, Angelina and Ljubomir Markovic.
