Cities of Kragujevac and Trenčin in Slovakia have intensive cooperation and friendly relations from the year 1974 when the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and Friendly Relations was signed. Today at the City Hall in the presence of the Mission of the Slovak Embassy in Belgrade headed by HE Dagmar Repčekova, Ambassador of Slovak Republik to Serbia and the President of the City Assembley Mr. Miroslav Petrasinovic with the Mayor of Trenčin Mr. Rihard Ribniček signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Continuation of Cooperation.

This is a year of jubilees for Slovak Republic, too marking 100th anniversary from the foundation of the Czechoslovakia Republic and the establishment of the diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of SHS. Our nations and countries are connected by the historical events from the WWI while the sacrifices of soldiers oblige us never to forget the absurdity of war. Such solid foundations and long term friendly relations are opportunity for the establishment of manifold cooperation. I am very pleased that the Cities of Kragujevac and Trenčin  wish to renew and extend the contemporary cooperation. The Slovakian investment mission in visit to the cities of Serbia is scheduled for autumn, the experts in mechanical engineering, car industry and ecology are to visit the City of Kragujevac, said HE Dagmar Repčekova mark the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovak.

In the year of major anniversary when Kragujevac marks 200th year from being proclaimed the first capital of a modern Serbian State it also marks other significant events and one is signing of the MoU on Continuity of Cooperation and Friendly Relations among Kragujevac and Trenčin after 44 years. Our two cities have quality friendly relationships for less than half a century and excellent cooperation with the Embassy  of the Slovak Republic to Serbia. We are connected by the perishment of the victims of WWI and the Slovakian soldiers we have deep reverence for. Long-term cooperation has been achieved in the sphere of culture and education and we wish to expand it to economy, small and medium enterprises that the Slovak Republic is very recognizable for, said the President of the City Assembly Mr. Miroslav Petrasinovic.

The Mayor of Trenčin Mr. Rihard Ribniček pointed that Kragujevac was one of the most significant cities that Trenčin cooperated with adding that there is a large interest for the expansion of the cooperation to other spheres now after official signing of the document on cooperation continuity.

Our cities have long-term mutual respect and friendly relationships. Serbian chapel is built in Trenčin and every year we commemorate the remembrance of the victims of war and pay the tribute to the Serbian soldiers. We also support our relations through cultural activities and they are very good, noticed the Mayor of Trenčin Mr. Rihard Ribniček. There is at one side the politics that is very important but on the other side the relationship between people are much more important.

After the reception and the ceremony of the MoU signing the Delegation of the Slovakia visited the National Museum 21 Oktobar and laid the wreaths by the Monuments of the executed Slovakians and schoolchildren and professors in Sumarice.
