In the memory of innocent victims of Kragujevac Great School Class is held on this October 21 at Sumarice with the prayer for the new martyrs of Kragujevac held by Bishop Jovan with the priests of Sumadija diocese before the monument of shot pupils and teachers.
Wreaths for the executed pupils and teachers are laid by the students of the First Grammar School, the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, Delegation of the Government of Serbia led by the Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Mayor of Kragujevac Radomir Nikolic and the President of the City Assembly Miroslav Petrasinovic, Ambassador of Germany H.E. Axel Dittmann. Ambassador of Austria H.E. Johannes Eigner, Ambassador of Russia H.E. Alexandar Cepurin, Ambassador of Palestine H.E. Mohammed Nabhan, representatives of twin cities and others.
On the Great School Class drama recital Game of Numbers by the author Mirko Demic from Kragujevac, directed by Marko Misiraca is preformed.
“It is a story about people turning into numbers that becomes absurd. Mirko allowed himself rightfully as an author to lean Kragujevac tragedy on Jasenovac one. We composed a very interesting story that gathers the whole ensemble of Kragujevac theatre with the guests from Belgrade, pointed director Misiraca.
Commemoration manifestation Great School Class at the Memorial Park Sumarice is held in the memory of October 21, 1941 when the German occupation army executed several thousand of Kragujevac citizens amongst whom pupils and their teachers.
German occupation army in retaliation for the loss of 10 soldiers and wounding of 26 in the attack of partisans on 3rd battalion of the 749 infantry regiment of Wehrmacht on October 16, 1941 shot 3000 citizens of Kragujevac and nearby places amongst whom 300 pupils of high school, apprentices and 15 street shoeshine boys.
Since October 21, 2012 it is a national holiday – Remembrance Day of the Serbian victims of the WWII.
