Аmbassador of the Republic of Poland H.E. Rafal Perl was in Kragujevac today and together with the Mayor Nikola Dasic visited the site of Aerodrom that was organized within the Project “Green Space for Clean Environment and Healthier Youth”. The Project is financed by the Department of Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Poland.

It is my great pleasure to welcome friends from Poland, the country I had opportunity to spend some time in during my career. People of Poland are hospitable and friendly and that is what makes them stand out, said the Mayor Dasic. I would like to convey my gratefulness to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland for their great help in arranging and landscaping one of the largest settlements in Kragujevac.

The Project ensured that our youth, young parents and children get a beautiful park in the settlement,   that is fully equipped with infrastructure, but what was missing was greenery and trees. Within the project “Green Space for Clean Environment and Healthier Youth”, the Aerodrom, in addition to all the runways and benches that were set up, received 162 new trees  and bushes  and we expect the real results in the spring  when trees turn green and this part of Aerodrom takes completely new look, said Mayor Dasic. The Mayor reminded that this year marked the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Charter on the Twinning of Kragujevac with the city of Bydgoszcz. Besides, the City of Kragujevac has intensive cooperation with Poland and their Embassy, primarily in the field of culture, with constant and open dialogue also in other fields of concern, Dasic pointed out.

Within the Project, 12 park benches were set up in one of the most populated and largest urban settlements after the preparatory works, 44 seedlings of conifers and deciduous trees, 118 shrubby and ornamental shrubs were planted, five pedestrian paths were made with segmental pavers and curbs.

I am proud and very pleased to be in Kragujevac for the fourth time, where together with the local self-government we have implemented one of the largest projects financed by the Department of Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Poland, said Polish Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Rafal Perl. This year, we have 6 new projects in Serbia that focus on environment protection, but at the start of next year, call for proposals would be announced for funds from Poland’s Development Cooperation- Aid.  H.E. Ambassador Perl reminded of the dynamic relations between two countries, both political and economic. Poland is the eighth foreign trade partner of Serbia, and we have very good cultural cooperation and local self-governments cooperation, and most important, there is a dynamic and continuity of that cooperation. There are many similarities between our peoples including language, culture, history, friendly and hospitable attitude towards neighboring nations that are our greatest similarities,” said the Ambassador Perl.

The Mayor of Kragujevac, Nikola Dašić organized a reception at the City Hall for the Ambassador of Poland, H.E. Rafal Perl, before visiting the Aerodrom.
